Requirements

• Keep the Giant Blacksmith alive and friendly.

1. Reach the cathedral interior beyond the Silver Knight archers. From the upper floor above the main hall, take the side stairs leading down toward the blacksmith.
2. Find the seated giant working at the anvil and speak to him. Open the nearby outside door for a shorter return route. You can shop before defeating Ornstein and Smough.
3. Buy Lightning Bolt from the Giant Blacksmith's ammunition inventory.

Notes

• Equipping and firing: Equip in a bolt slot and use a crossbow. Arrows cannot replace bolts.
• Reinforcement and scaling: Ammunition cannot be reinforced. Improve the bow or crossbow itself, and meet that weapon's requirements. This ammunition has no independent attribute scaling; the launcher, distance, hit location and target defenses affect the final damage.
• Physical and lightning power: Has 38 base physical attack and 78 base lightning attack. These are ammunition power values, not 116 guaranteed HP damage. Each damage component is affected by the target's corresponding defense.
• Crossbow choice: Works with all four crossbows. A Lightning-upgraded crossbow is not required to load it, and the bolt does not convert or permanently change the crossbow's upgrade path.
• Supply and burst cost: The Giant Blacksmith is the regular seller. Avelyn fires three bolts in a full burst, so using Lightning Bolts for that burst spends three times the displayed per-bolt price. Chester and Gough do not sell replacements in the DLC.
