In-game description

Abyss sorcery discovered by an Oolacile
sorcerer on the brink of madness.
Create a cloud of Dark Fog.

Although Dark Fog is, in theory, relatively
close to humanity, it also happens to be a
terrible poison for humans. Perhaps it
reflects man's cruelty against his own.

Where to find

Treasure pickup

Oolacile Township lower buildings

  1. Progress through the Township to the large multilevel building containing a corpse suspended over the lower floor.
  2. Shoot or strike the hanging corpse to bring it down. Follow the connected ledges and lower rooftops down to the dark floor beneath it.
  3. Turn back toward the spot below the hanging body and collect Dark Fog. The nearby lift reconnects this lower section to the earlier Township route.

Notes

  • Requirements and charges: Requires 18 Intelligence. Uses 1 attunement slot and provides 2 charges per attuned copy before equipment modifiers.
  • Casting tool: Cast with a catalyst. Most catalysts gain spell power from Intelligence; the Tin Darkmoon Catalyst uses Faith, while the Oolacile Ivory Catalyst and Oolacile Catalyst have fixed Magic Adjustment. Meeting this spell's Intelligence requirement is still necessary with those exceptions.
  • DLC and achievements: Included in the Artorias of the Abyss content bundled with Remastered. This DLC spell is not required for its school's original all-spells achievement.
  • Poison cloud: Places a cloud that builds poison on susceptible targets. The cloud lasts about six seconds; the poison it inflicts lasts much longer, so cloud duration and status duration are different.
  • Poison effect: Once inflicted, its poison can drain health for up to 180 seconds. More Intelligence or a stronger catalyst does not increase the fixed damage of the status.
  • Limits: Poison resistance affects whether the cloud fills the buildup meter. It cannot poison an immune target and does not inflict Toxic.
