the famed Dragonslayers. Only their leader,
Gough, had the strength to handle it.

Requirements

  • Have the Crest Key.
  • Keep Gough alive and friendly.
  1. Find the Crest Key in the Township Mimic. From the lower street with several Bloatheads and two sorcerers, enter the side doorway and go upstairs. Cross the wooden planks and drop into the room with the fireplace and chest. Defeat the Mimic for the key.
  2. Return to the exit of Artorias's arena facing the Township. Turn left up the stairs, then cross the short bridge to the locked tower door. Open it with the Crest Key and speak to Gough.
  3. Before Artorias's arena, take the slope into the Royal Wood valley, pass the dogs and descend the long ladder to encounter Kalameet. Return to Gough and accept his offer to shoot the dragon down.
  4. Defeat Kalameet, return to the tower and choose Gough's Talk option until he gives you the greatbow. Killing the dragon without returning to speak to him does not collect the gift.

  2. Return to the exit of Artorias's arena facing the Township. Turn left up the stairs, then cross the short bridge to the locked tower door. Open it with the Crest Key and speak to Gough.
  3. Killing Gough before receiving his gift also drops the bow with his armor. This removes his shop and assistance for the journey.
  • Get his help grounding Kalameet and buy needed great arrows before choosing to kill him. The peaceful reward preserves his services.

  • Scaling and use: Both Strength and Dexterity scale physical damage, with Strength stronger. Its listed Strength requirement is 40; the mandatory two-handed bow stance makes 27 Strength sufficient. Dexterity must still reach 20.
  • Ammunition: Uses Dragonslayer Arrows and Gough's Great Arrows, not ordinary arrows. Each shot consumes one, and the heavy draw anchors you in place during the firing sequence.
  • Load and upgrades: Weighs 13 and reinforces to +5 with Twinkling Titanite. It cannot use weapon coatings or change to elemental upgrade branches.
