In-game description

Sorcery of Manus, Father of the Abyss.
Grant a fleeting will to the Dark of
humanity, and volley the result.

The will feels envy, or perhaps love,
and despite the inevitably trite and
tragic ending, the will sees no alternative,
and is driven madly toward its target.

Snuggly's nest, Northern Undead Asylum

Requirements

  • Carry the Soul of Manus.
  1. Defeat Manus in the Chasm of the Abyss and keep his soul. Return to Firelink, use the crow nest above the shrine and curl up to travel back to the Asylum.
  2. Find the small trading nest on the cliff beside the Asylum approach. Stand in the nest and leave the Soul of Manus on the ground, taking care to choose Leave rather than Discard.
  3. Quit and reload the game, then collect Pursuers from the nest. This is the small trading nest, not the large nest used for travel.
  • The trade consumes the boss soul. Do not leave a stack of unrelated items in the nest.

Notes

  • Requirements and charges: Requires 32 Intelligence. Uses 2 attunement slots and provides 3 charges per attuned copy before equipment modifiers.
  • Casting tool: Cast with a catalyst. Most catalysts gain spell power from Intelligence; the Tin Darkmoon Catalyst uses Faith, while the Oolacile Ivory Catalyst and Oolacile Catalyst have fixed Magic Adjustment. Meeting this spell's Intelligence requirement is still necessary with those exceptions.
  • DLC and achievements: Included in the Artorias of the Abyss content bundled with Remastered. This DLC spell is not required for its school's original all-spells achievement.
  • Attributes by component: Intelligence usually raises the magical component through catalyst Magic Adjustment. Strength, or Dexterity where the catalyst has that physical scaling, can improve the physical component. These attributes are not interchangeable, and a catalyst without the relevant scaling does not gain that benefit.
  • Use: Prepares five slow, strongly homing dark projectiles. Each can deal physical and magic damage, so the target's defenses for both channels matter.
  • Casting power: The magical part depends on the catalyst's Magic Adjustment. The physical part can also benefit from the catalyst's physical scaling; the best catalyst therefore depends on both your attributes and the component being considered.
  • Trade choice: The Soul of Manus is also used to forge Manus Catalyst. Trading it for this spell spends that soul, so obtaining both through your own boss rewards takes another journey.
  • Avoiding the projectiles: The projectiles can be evaded or outlasted. Their strong tracking does not guarantee that all five connect.
