In-game description

Pyromancy foreign to the Great Swamp.
Create a surge of flame from palm of hand.

Not all pyromancy originates in the Great
Swamp. One hears rumors of unknown
pyromancers inhabiting various lands, and
this spell is the work of one such outlander.

Quest or covenant reward

Painted World underground passages

  1. Enter the painting in Anor Londo while carrying the Peculiar Doll. Reach the courtyard and descend the well into the dark bonewheel tunnels.
  2. From the well entrance, take the left passage, turn left at the first junction, left again and then immediately right toward the stairwell. A Bonewheel Skeleton guards this turn.
  3. Climb the stairs and defeat the single swollen Hollow at the top. Collect its unique Fire Surge drop, rather than looking for the spell on a ground corpse.
  • Draw the Bonewheel Skeleton into space before entering its narrow passage.

Notes

  • Requirements and charges: Has no Intelligence or Faith requirement. Uses 1 attunement slot and provides 80 charges per attuned copy before equipment modifiers.
  • Casting tool: Cast with a Pyromancy Flame. Its reinforcement determines Magic Adjustment; Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Faith do not increase its spell power. Dexterity can affect the casting speed of some offensive spells, separately from damage.
  • Held flame: Hold the casting input to maintain the flame stream. Charges are spent as the stream continues, so the 80-charge pool is not 80 separate full-length attacks.
  • Contact power: The native fire contact uses 55% of the flame's Magic Adjustment before defense. Repeated valid contacts, rather than one large fireball hit, build the attack's total damage.
  • Limits: Its short reach requires staying close to the target. A long animation does not guarantee that every visible flame registers a damaging contact.
