In-game description

Primal pyromancy taught by Quelana of Izalith.
Sweep foes with fire whip.

The root pyromancy of Combustion,
but much more difficult to wield.

Where to find

Merchant purchase

Blighttown swamp

Cost: 10000 Souls · Stock: 1

Requirements

  • Make Quelana appear and speak to her before killing the Bed of Chaos.
  • Keep her alive and complete purchases before she finishes her quest and departs.
  1. Upgrade a Pyromancy Flame to at least +10 with Laurentius or Eingyi. Return to the swamp before defeating the Bed of Chaos and find the woman seated against a stone pillar near the approach to Quelaag's mound.
  2. Speak to Quelana to establish the encounter and open her shop. Her appearance threshold is +10, not the +15 needed to ascend a flame.
  3. Keep Laurentius at Firelink by declining his later request for the source of your advanced pyromancy if you still need his services.
  4. Buy Fire Whip from Quelana of Izalith's spell inventory.

Notes

  • Requirements and charges: Has no Intelligence or Faith requirement. Uses 1 attunement slot and provides 80 charges per attuned copy before equipment modifiers.
  • Casting tool: Cast with a Pyromancy Flame. Its reinforcement determines Magic Adjustment; Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Faith do not increase its spell power. Dexterity can affect the casting speed of some offensive spells, separately from damage.
  • Shop stock: Each listed stock is the number of spell copies in that inventory, not the number of casts. Buying a second copy can provide another charge pool if you have the slots to attune it.
  • Sweeping flame: Produces a sustained sweep of fire in front of the caster. A complete animation spends many of the displayed 80 charges, so that pool should not be read as 80 full casts.
  • Contacts: A target can receive more than one contact, but hit timing and the sweep's position limit the total. Do not multiply the contact power by every visible flame effect.
