Havel the Rock, an old battlefield compatriot
of Lord Gwyn, was the sworn enemy of Seath
the Scaleless. He despised magic, and made
certain to devise means of counteraction.

Ash Lake hollow tree

  1. From the Blighttown swamp, enter the large hollow tree, strike the two hidden walls beyond its chest and descend through the Great Hollow to Ash Lake.
  2. Follow the beach toward the Everlasting Dragon, watching for the Hydra. Stop at the smaller hollow tree along the route and enter its root walkway, where basilisks can inflict curse.
  3. From the root curving around the tree, look down for the projecting broken trunk. Drop carefully onto that lower opening and follow the inside passage to the corpse holding the miracle.
  • The lake is a fatal drop. Before obtaining bonfire warping, reaching Ash Lake also commits you to climbing the Great Hollow to leave.

  • Requirements and charges: Requires 24 Faith. Uses 1 attunement slot and provides 2 charges per attuned copy before equipment modifiers.
  • Casting tool: Cast with a talisman. Most talismans gain Magic Adjustment from Faith, while Velka's Talisman uses Intelligence and the Thorolund Talisman has fixed power. The spell's own Faith requirement still applies.
  • Magic protection: For 40 seconds, reduces incoming magic damage by 90% after ordinary defense. It is magic protection, not protection against every kind of spell damage.
  • Split attacks: A projectile with physical and magic components can still hurt through its physical part. The barrier does not erase all damage merely because an attack was cast with a catalyst.
  • Replacement: Replaces Magic Barrier and conflicts with other personal buffs such as Power Within and Flash Sweat.
