Weapon behavior

The one-handed strong attack releases a vertical wave and spends 20 durability. The two-handed strong attack releases a horizontal wave with an impact explosion and spends 40. Maximum durability is 300.

Reinforcement and comparison

Deals magical damage only, with Intelligence as its only damage-scaling attribute. Strength and Dexterity are still wielding requirements, but raising them does not add physical attack.

Reinforce to +5 with Dragon Scales. There are no normal or elemental conversion paths. Cannot use pine resins or weapon-enchantment spells.

In-game description

Weapon type: Greatsword
Attack type: Regular

This sword, one of the rare dragon weapons,
came from the tail of Seath the Scaleless,
the pale white dragon who betrayed his own.
Seath is the grandfather of sorcery, and this
sword is imbued with his magic, which shall
be unleashed as a wave of moonlight.

Where to find

Tail cut

Crystal Cave

Requirements

  • Reach Seath's final arena in Crystal Cave.
  • Sever his middle tail before defeating him.
  1. Use the bookshelf shortcut from the Duke's Archives into the crystal garden, then descend through Crystal Cave to Seath's arena. Watch the falling crystals and use Prism Stones to judge invisible ground.
  2. Break the glowing crystal at the rear of the arena to remove Seath's invulnerability. Work around behind him and strike the tip of the long middle tail, not either side appendage or the base beside his body.
  3. Continue targeting the tail until the sword is awarded. The first Archives encounter is not the place to obtain it, and killing Seath without the cut loses the opportunity for this journey.

Notes

  • Requirements and weight: Requires 16 Strength, 10 Dexterity, 28 Intelligence and weighs 6.
  • Pure magic scaling: Deals magical damage only, with Intelligence as its only damage-scaling attribute. Strength and Dexterity are still wielding requirements, but raising them does not add physical attack.
  • Ranged strong attacks: The one-handed strong attack releases a vertical wave and spends 20 durability. The two-handed strong attack releases a horizontal wave with an impact explosion and spends 40. Maximum durability is 300.
  • Magic defense: Adds 40 magic defense while active. This is a defense increase, not a universal 40% reduction to magic damage.
  • Reinforcement and buffs: Reinforce to +5 with Dragon Scales. There are no normal or elemental conversion paths. Cannot use pine resins or weapon-enchantment spells.
