In the war that marked the dawn of the Age
of Fire, Gwyn wielded these rays of sunlight,
which remain fierce even as they fade.

Requirements

  • Normally have at least 25 Faith to join. Each boss you help defeat as a summoned white phantom lowers that joining requirement by five.
  • Have obtained Great Lightning Spear and carry the Soul of Gwyn, Lord of Cinder.
  1. Reach the bonfire under the Hellkite bridge. From the room behind the gate, enter the side courtyard containing the broken statue and kneel at the Altar of Sunlight.
  2. Meet the covenant's joining requirement and agree to join the Warriors of Sunlight. Receive Lightning Spear as the joining reward.
  3. After reaching rank +1, offer Gwyn's soul at the altar to receive Sunlight Spear. This spends that boss soul.

Notes

  • Requirements and charges: Requires 50 Faith. Uses 2 attunement slots and provides 5 charges per attuned copy before equipment modifiers.
  • Casting tool: Cast with a talisman. Most talismans gain Magic Adjustment from Faith, while Velka's Talisman uses Intelligence and the Thorolund Talisman has fixed power. The spell's own Faith requirement still applies.
  • Covenant copy limit: This covenant reward is awarded once per character. Rejoining or beginning a later journey does not supply an extra copy to stack in another attunement slot.
  • Lightning attack: The strongest of the three direct spear miracles has five base uses and needs two slots. Its high Faith requirement and smaller charge pool are separate costs from its higher attack power.
  • Covenant restriction: Requires current Warriors of Sunlight membership to cast. Leaving the covenant does not remove the owned miracle, but prevents its use.
  • Boss soul: The checked self-earned route reaches the next journey because Gwyn's defeat ends the current one. A legitimately transferred Soul of Gwyn can provide the offering earlier.
  • One reward: The covenant does not award extra copies every time you offer another soul or start another journey.
