nor do they inflict a terrible amount of
damage, but their cheap cost makes them
useful when volume is required.

Requirements

  • Keep the male Undead Merchant alive and friendly.
  1. From Firelink, follow the uphill path past the Hollows and enter the aqueduct passage. Leave by its side exit and climb into Undead Burg. Reach the first bonfire in the room beside the small crossbow tower.
  2. From the first Undead Burg bonfire, return toward the roof terrace with two spear Hollows. Break the crates beside the terrace to reveal stairs.
  3. Go downstairs, leave through the side doorway and find the seated merchant on the balcony. Speak to him without attacking.
  4. Buy Wood Bolt from the male Undead Merchant's ammunition inventory.

Firelink aqueduct / Lower Undead Burg

Cost: 10 Souls · Stock: ∞

Requirements

  • Keep the female Undead Merchant alive and friendly.
  1. Use the Basement Key from Undead Parish to open the Lower Burg descent near the Hellkite bridge. Continue past the dogs and assassin ambushes toward the Capra Demon fog.
  2. Take the stairs beside that fog down toward the Depths entrance. Follow the adjoining tower stairs up to the aqueduct passage.
  3. Speak through the bars to the merchant, then open the nearby shortcut door back toward Firelink. Her stall can be revisited through that shortcut.
  4. Buy Wood Bolt from the female Undead Merchant's ammunition inventory.

Undead Parish

Requirements

  • Keep Andre alive and friendly.
  1. From the Parish church, take the passage toward the building across from the church entrance. Descend to the bonfire, then continue downstairs into the workshop.
  2. Speak to Andre at his anvil. Buying ammunition does not require an ember or a particular stage of his blacksmithing work.
  3. Buy Wood Bolt from Andre of Astora's ammunition inventory.

The Depths / Firelink Shrine

Requirements

  • Keep Domhnall of Zena alive and friendly.
  1. Enter the Depths with the key from Capra Demon. Work through the sewers to the large chamber leading toward Gaping Dragon and find the seated merchant beside the locked Blighttown gate.
  2. After both Bells of Awakening have been rung, look for him beneath the aqueduct near Firelink. Reach his ledge from the cliffside aqueduct approach. His location changes without creating a fresh copy of his finite stock.
  3. Buy Wood Bolt from Domhnall of Zena's ammunition inventory.

The Catacombs

Requirements

  • Keep Vamos alive and friendly.
  1. From Firelink graveyard, descend into the Catacombs and use the bridge switches to reach the deeper spiral stairways.
  2. At the broken end of the spiral staircase, look below for the successive ledges. Drop from ledge to ledge toward the opening beside the blacksmith rather than jumping to the bottom.
  3. Approaching Vamos triggers him to break a wall, opening access to his workshop. Speak to him without attacking. Remastered has a bonfire in this workshop.
  4. Buy Wood Bolt from Vamos's ammunition inventory.
  • Resting deep in the Catacombs before gaining warping can make the return climb difficult.

Notes

  • Equipping and firing: Equip in a bolt slot and use a crossbow. Arrows cannot replace bolts.
  • Reinforcement and scaling: Ammunition cannot be reinforced. Improve the bow or crossbow itself, and meet that weapon's requirements. This ammunition has no independent attribute scaling; the launcher, distance, hit location and target defenses affect the final damage.
  • Cheap physical bolt: Has 38 base physical attack, ten below Standard Bolt. It is the lowest-cost bolt sold and works for drawing enemies into a more manageable fight when immediate damage is not the main purpose.
  • Compatibility: Works with all four crossbows. It does not have a wooden-weapon restriction, a poison effect or the longer-range profile of Sniper Bolt.
  • Suppliers: The male and female Undead Merchants, Andre, Domhnall and Vamos sell unlimited stock. The Giant Blacksmith and Chester do not have a native Wood Bolt shop offer, so do not rely on them for restocking it.
