Quest branches and services

These branches include alternatives. Check the requirements for each before acting.

Undead Burg

Cooperation

Requirements: You have reached the terrace after Taurus Demon.

What to do: Speak to Solaire overlooking the sun and accept his cooperation offer.

Result: Receive the White Sign Soapstone.

Anor Londo

Anor Londo

Requirements: Speak with Solaire after Taurus Demon.

What to do: Speak to him beside the interior bonfire reached after passing the two Silver Knight archers.

Result: His normal journey can continue toward the Centipede Demon bonfire.

Consequences and cutoffs: The later Sunlight Altar meeting is optional. It is not a required rescue conversation.

Demon Ruins

Save

Requirements: You have not advanced Solaire into Lost Izalith with the red-eyed bug alive.

What to do: Open the shortcut door at Chaos Servant rank +2 and kill the red-eyed Chaos Bug beyond it before advancing his quest.

Result: The bug drops the Sunlight Maggot. Removing it is the standard rescue route.

Consequences and cutoffs: Kill it early, preferably before Demon Firesage. The alternate through-door methods are separate routes.

Demon Ruins

Shortcut Rescue

Requirements: Solaire has not reached the hostile shortcut state.

What to do: Offer thirty Humanity to the Chaos Servant covenant, retain rank +2 while opening the shortcut, and kill the red-eyed Chaos Bug on the other side before advancing him into Lost Izalith.

Result: The unique bug drops the Sunlight Maggot and the rescue branch stays available.

Consequences and cutoffs: Open the door before killing its covenant leader. Merely opening it without killing the unique bug does not save him.

Demon Ruins

Closed Door Rescue

Requirements: The unique red-eyed Chaos Bug is alive and Solaire is not yet hostile.

What to do: A through-door attack such as Poison Mist can kill the unique bug without opening the covenant shortcut. Check that the unique higher-soul reward is received, then recover the Sunlight Maggot when you reach the other side.

Result: Killing the same unique bug preserves the rescue branch.

Consequences and cutoffs: Attack placement matters. A normal Chaos Bug kill is not confirmation that the required bug died.

Anor Londo; Lost Izalith

Delayed Rescue

Requirements: Leave the Anor Londo bonfire conversation unfinished.

What to do: Delay his move from Anor Londo, reach and kill the unique Chaos Bug, then return to finish his conversations and meet him after the Centipede Demon.

Result: This provides another way to remove the bug before his arrival.

Consequences and cutoffs: Finish the later depressed shortcut conversation before expecting his Gwyn summon sign.

Lost Izalith

Hostile Ending

Requirements: Solaire reaches the shortcut state while the unique bug remains alive.

What to do: Find him wearing the Sunlight Maggot near the shortcut. This is the hostile conclusion of his search.

Result: His equipment becomes a combat drop instead of a surviving ally's equipment.

Consequences and cutoffs: Killing the bug afterward does not reverse an already completed hostile transition.

Lost Izalith shortcut

Final Sign

Requirements: The red-eyed bug was killed in time and Solaire survived his journey.

What to do: Finish his bonfire conversations and speak to him at the shortcut.

Result: His quest can make his summon sign available for Gwyn.

Consequences and cutoffs: Normal summoning conditions still apply.
