In-game description

A loathsome parasite that inhabits Lost
Izalith. It is completely immobile, yet still
lives.

When worn on the head, it emanates
blinding light, which is why it is known
as a Sunlight Maggot.

Where to find

Enemy drop

Lost Izalith shortcut

  1. Reach the passage connecting Demon Ruins to Lost Izalith. From the Lost Izalith side, take the long bridge guarded by the Titanite Demon toward the shortcut tunnel.
  2. Find and kill the red-eyed Chaos Bug in the tunnel, then collect the Sunlight Maggot. The other bugs are not the guaranteed source.
  3. For earlier access from Demon Ruins, offer 30 Humanity to the Chaos Servant covenant to reach rank +2, then open the large shortcut door from that side.
  • Kill the red-eyed bug before Solaire reaches it if you intend to save him. Going through Lost Izalith too late can advance his hostile ending.

Notes

  • Weight and poise: Equips on the head, weighs 1.4 and provides 0 poise. This piece does not help you withstand hits without staggering.
  • Physical protection: Provides 6 normal physical defense at base reinforcement. Its protection is the same against normal, strike, slash and thrust damage.
  • Protection: At base reinforcement, its elemental defense is 5 magic, 24 fire, 13 lightning. Fire is its strongest elemental defense at this level. Defense values are not percentages of incoming damage blocked.
  • Status resistance: Adds 0 bleed, 0 poison and 0 curse resistance at base reinforcement. These help resist buildup; they do not cure an existing status.
  • Reinforcement: Cannot be reinforced. Its listed protection is not a starting point for a later +5 or +10 version.
  • Light: Provides light while equipped, leaving both hands free for weapons and shields. It stays active until you remove the headgear and needs no spell slot.
  • Hidden walls: Its light can reveal the light-sealed hidden rooms in Oolacile Township. This is separate from striking an ordinary illusory wall.
  • Crow trade: Can be exchanged with Snuggly for the Old Witch's Ring once per journey. Trading away your only copy removes this hands-free light source.
