}In-game description
Key to the cell of the Duke's Archive Tower.
The Archive Tower, once a trove of precious
tomes and letters, became a prison after the
onset of Seath's madness. The serpent men
who guard the prison know not the value of
what they hide. In the basement of the tower
are the writhing "mistakes" of the terrifying
experiments which were conducted there.
Where to find
Guard drop
Duke's Archives: prison cell
Requirements
- Reach the Archives after placing the Lordvessel.
- From Anor Londo's first bonfire, take the uphill side route past the armored boars. Ride the Archives lift and continue through the library toward the first encounter with Seath.
- Die in that encounter to awaken inside the prison cell. The Seath in this first room cannot be killed by ordinary attacks.
- Attack the Serpent Soldier resting outside the cell through the bars. Collect the Archive Tower Cell Key from inside your cell and unlock the door.
- The prison bonfire cannot warp you out. Escape through the tower instead.
Notes
- First prison door: Opens the main door of the cell where you awaken after the first Seath encounter.
- Other Archives locks: The extra prison key opens side-cell doors; the giant door key opens the tower exit; the giant cell key opens Logan's large cell. This first key does not replace them.
- Leaving the cell: Opening the door starts the tower alarm sequence. Be ready for the Serpent Soldiers and the Pisacas released below.
- Later journeys: This key is removed when a new journey begins. Collect it again if you need to reopen its lock; unlocking the door in the previous journey does not keep it open.
