Northern Undead Asylum: Asylum Demon
- Take the side exit during the first encounter, collect your class equipment and speak to Oscar for the east gate key.
- Continue upstairs through the east gate and enter the fog overlooking the Asylum Demon. Defeat it to receive the Big Pilgrim's Key.
- Unlock the large doors at the far end of the arena and follow the path uphill to leave the Asylum.

Northern Undead Asylum: Oscar's room
Requirements
- Defeat the Asylum Demon during the first encounter.
- After the early victory, continue through the tutorial route to the room opened by the rolling iron ball.
- Speak to Oscar and accept his request. He supplies the exit key as part of this alternate tutorial sequence; collect his items if he has died.
Demon's Great Hammer

Requirements
- Defeat Asylum Demon during the first encounter, before using the side escape door.
- On a new character, enter the Asylum Demon courtyard and defeat the boss on this first visit instead of escaping through the side door.
- Collect the hammer with the boss reward. Black Firebombs as a starting gift can help with this early fight; they are an optional tactic rather than a requirement.
Note: The normal return fight after collecting tutorial equipment does not award this first-encounter weapon.
Demon's Great Hammer

Requirements
- Have a Sack to trade.
- Return to the Northern Undead Asylum.
- Use the Firelink-to-Parish lift shortcut to reach the upper ruins and the giant crow's nest. Curl up in the large nest and wait for the crow to carry you back.
- At the Asylum, find the small trading nest on the cliff near the approach to the torch-carrying Hollows. This is separate from the large transport nest.
- Leave one Sack in the small nest using Leave, not Discard. Quit and reload, then collect the replacement item for Demon's Great Hammer.
Note: This Sack trade can be completed once per journey. Do not leave a stack or unrelated valuables in the nest.
