}In-game description
Key to the dungeon of the Undead Asylum to
the North.
A mysterious knight, without saying a word,
shoved a corpse down into the cell, and on
its person was this key. Who was this knight?
And what was his purpose? There may be no
answers, but one must still forge ahead.
Where to find
Treasure pickup
Northern Undead Asylum: starting cell
- At the beginning of the game, wait for the knight above your cell to drop a body through the roof.
- Search that body for the Dungeon Cell Key, then interact with the barred cell door to open it.
- Follow the corridor and climb the ladder to the courtyard bonfire.
Notes
- First door: This is the key to the cell where your character begins. It is part of the opening tutorial, before you have your class equipment.
- Automatic use: Carry the key and interact with its door. It does not need to be equipped or selected as a usable item.
- Different Asylum keys: The upstairs east gate, upstairs west gate and large exit door each have their own key. Opening your cell does not unlock those doors.
- Later journeys: This key is removed when a new journey begins. Collect it again if you need to reopen its lock; unlocking the door in the previous journey does not keep it open.
