Darkroot Garden to Blighttown

Requirements

  • Join the Forest Hunter covenant through Alvina.
  • Keep Shiva of the East and his bodyguard alive and friendly.
  1. Find Alvina, the large cat sitting in the window of the stone ruins beyond the sealed Crest of Artorias door in Darkroot Garden. Speak to her and join the Forest Hunters.
  2. Go outside the ruins and speak to Shiva, the armored swordsman who appears nearby. Finish his introductory conversation.
  3. While still a Forest Hunter, go to the bottom of Blighttown. Find the wooden waterwheel lift rising from the swamp near the tunnel bonfire.
  4. Shiva stands at the base of the lift as a merchant. Speak to him there and choose Learn gesture.
  • The swamp causes poison buildup. Carry a way to cure poison and allow room to speak safely.
  • Attacking Forest Hunters or Shiva's bodyguard can break the friendly route. Learn the gesture before attempting to take the bodyguard's ring.

Notes

  • Motion: Holds a hand above the eyes while looking upward, as though searching the sky.
  • Correct meeting: Shiva's first conversation in the Garden sets up his move. Learn Look skyward from his Blighttown merchant menu, rather than expecting the first Garden meeting to award it.
  • Free teaching: No weapon or ring purchase is required. His covenant-dependent merchant access is the important condition.
