In-game description

This ring belonged to the Knight King Rendal.
It grants its wearer protection by boosting
defense against physical attacks.

Of the many legends surrounding the Knight
King Rendal, one of the more well-known
speaks of his standing down a giant drake
and slashing it to pieces.

Sen's Fortress

After ringing both bells, enter the fortress beside Andre and work through the opening traps to the long exterior sloping boulder path.
Wait for a boulder to pass, then climb the slope and take shelter in the side room at its upper end. Defeat the Serpent Mage guarding the room.
Open the chest for the ring. Watch the boulder route before stepping back onto the slope.

Notes

Physical defense: Adds 50 points of physical defense, including strike, slash and thrust. This changes the defense used in damage calculation rather than removing a fixed 50 HP from every hit.
Limits: Does not add magic, fire or lightning defense. A split-damage attack still has an elemental component that this ring does not directly strengthen your defense against.
