In-game description

This iron ring was used to shackle the
guilty. It is terribly rusted, and faintly
stained with blood.

Those who find this strange ring to their
liking will be pleased to find it easier to
gain footing on poor ground such as swamps.

Where to find

Treasure pickup

Northern Undead Asylum

Requirements

  • Obtain the Undead Asylum F2 West Key at Firelink Shrine.
  1. Unlock the Undead Parish church lift to Firelink. Step off onto the ruined ledge above Firelink and reach the roof above Petrus's covered rooms. Collect the Undead Asylum F2 West Key from the roof.
  2. Climb back along the buttress and stairs to the large crow's nest. Curl up and wait to be taken back to the Asylum.
  3. Return to the upper floor using the tutorial stair route. Find the locked gate on the western side of that floor and open it with the F2 West Key.
  4. Collect the ring from the corpse on the broken stairs beyond that door. Avoid the center of the main arena floor if you do not want to drop into the Stray Demon fight.

Notes

  • Bad footing: Removes the movement penalty from shallow water, swamp and similar slow ground. It is useful for moving and dodging through Blighttown's swamp.
  • Hazards remain: Does not prevent poison or Toxic buildup, lava damage or drowning in deep-water death pits. It changes footing, not resistance to those hazards.
  • Equipment weight: Does not increase maximum load. A heavy equipment roll stays heavy even when swamp slowdown is removed.
