}In-game description
Soul of Manus, Father of the Abyss.
This extraordinary soul is a viscous,
lukewarm lump of gentle humanity.
Ancient Manus was clearly once human.
But he became the Father of the Abyss
after his humanity went wild, eternally
seeking his precious broken pendant.
Where to find
Gift or encounter reward
Chasm of the Abyss
- Free Dusk from the golden golem behind Darkroot Basin's Hydra, then obtain the Broken Pendant from the first Crystal Golem in the Duke's Archives.
- Return to the cave behind the Hydra and use the dark portal to enter Oolacile.
- Defeat Artorias and descend through Oolacile Township to the Dungeon bonfire. Enter the Chasm of the Abyss and follow its ledges and lit markers down toward the final fog.
- Defeat Manus. Receive his soul after the fight; Dusk's appearance and Elizabeth's later mushroom reward are separate events.
Notes
- Consume or keep: Using the item grants 18,000 souls and destroys it. This is separate from the souls credited immediately for defeating the boss.
- Reward choices: Make Manus Catalyst from an ordinary Sorcerer's Catalyst, without reinforcement. Alternatively, leave the soul in the small Asylum trading nest, reload and collect Pursuers. One copy cannot provide both rewards.
- Frampt value: Feeding it to Kingseeker Frampt gives 10,000 souls, which is less than consuming it. Feeding also destroys the item.
- Forging: At Anor Londo's Giant Blacksmith, choose Modify Equipment with this soul and the required base equipment. A normal +10 base needs Andre's Large Ember modification from +5 to +6 first. Forging spends the soul, the base item and 5,000 Souls.
