and became a threat to all Undead.

Where to find

Merchant purchase

Sen's Fortress

Cost: 5000 Souls · Stock: ∞

Requirements

  • Ring both Bells of Awakening and reach the rooftops.
  • Keep the Crestfallen Merchant alive and friendly.
  1. Reach the fortress rooftops after passing the swinging blades and boulder passages.
  2. Find the narrow bridge with a missing section leading to a separate tower. Jump the gap, enter the tower and speak to the seated merchant.
  3. Open the purchase menu and buy Steel Gauntlets.
  • The tower jump has a fatal drop. The merchant is separate from the friendly knight sitting inside the fortress.

Enemy drop

Sen's Fortress / Painted World of Ariamis

  1. Defeat a large Berenike Knight, the heavily armored enemy carrying an oversized weapon and shield. One guards the fortress rooftop route, and another stands on the approach to Priscilla in the Painted World.
  2. Collect any dropped armor. The individual pieces are random drops; buying them from the fortress merchant avoids waiting for a particular piece.

Notes

  • Weight and poise: Equips on the hands, weighs 8.3 and provides 14 poise. Poise helps resist stagger; it does not reduce health damage.
  • Physical protection: Provides 25 normal physical defense at base reinforcement. Its strongest physical protection at this level is against slash damage. Different attack types use different physical defenses.
  • Protection: At base reinforcement, its elemental defense is 13 magic, 12 fire, 8 lightning. Magic is its strongest elemental defense at this level. Defense values are not percentages of incoming damage blocked.
  • Status resistance: Adds 14 bleed, 9 poison and 0 curse resistance at base reinforcement. These help resist buildup; they do not cure an existing status.
  • Reinforcement: Reinforce to +10 using Titanite Shards, Large Titanite Shards, Titanite Chunks and a Titanite Slab. Reinforcement improves defenses and resistances without changing weight, poise or maximum durability. Armor does not use weapon embers or elemental conversion paths.
  • Stamina recovery: Wearing this piece slows stamina recovery by 1 point per second. This penalty is separate from the movement changes caused by total equipment load.
  • Enemy identity: This is the Berenike outfit. It is separate from the Balder, Black Iron and Giant sets.
