}In-game description
Titanite chunk for weapon reinforcement.
Not found outside of Lordran.
Reinforces standard weapons to +14,
and crystal, lightning weapons to +4.
With the discovery of chunks in Lordran,
the race to locate the Legendary Slabs
has begun. But could they be mere myth?
Where to find
Repeatable enemy drop
New Londo Ruins
Requirements
- From Firelink, take the lift down to New Londo and cross the wooden bridges. Use Transient Curse or another suitable means of fighting ghosts, then reach the roof above the large haunted building by its fireplace ladder.
- After obtaining the Lordvessel, speak to Ingward on that roof for the Key to the Seal. Follow the outer walkways to the floodgate tower, unlock the lower door and turn the mechanism to drain the ruins.
- Use the floodgate tower lift or an opened upper-ruins shortcut to reach the drained lower streets. Defeat the sword-wielding Darkwraiths inside and between the ruined buildings, collecting their drops.
- There is no ordinary bonfire in New Londo. Return to Firelink or the Darkroot Basin tunnel bonfire to reset the route.
Repeatable enemy drop
Kiln of the First Flame
Requirements
- Open the Kiln of the First Flame.
- Place the Lordvessel and fill it with the required lord souls to open the large door at Firelink Altar. Descend through the white passage into the ash-covered Kiln.
- Follow the route toward Gwyn and defeat the first and third Black Knight, identified by its sword. Collect its guaranteed chunk drop.
- Return to the Lordvessel to reset the knights. Stop before Gwyn if you want to keep farming; completing the ending starts the next journey.
Treasure pickup
New Londo Ruins
- From Firelink, take the lift down to New Londo and cross the wooden bridges. Use Transient Curse or another suitable means of fighting ghosts, then reach the roof above the large haunted building by its fireplace ladder.
- After obtaining the Lordvessel, speak to Ingward on that roof for the Key to the Seal. Follow the outer walkways to the floodgate tower, unlock the lower door and turn the mechanism to drain the ruins.
- In the lower ruins, pass through the first Mass of Souls building into the shallow-water street. Strike the differently colored wall to reveal a narrow side passage, defeat its Darkwraith and open the chest.
- Another chunk chest is inside the later building containing a second Mass of Souls. Clear the enemies before opening it.
Crow exchange
Northern Undead Asylum
Requirements
- Have Rubbish available to give away.
- Ride the Firelink-to-Parish lift and step onto the ledge above Firelink as it rises. Use the nearby roof and curved buttress to reach the large crow nest. Curl up and wait to return to the Asylum.
- At the Asylum arrival cliff, find the smaller nest on the side ledge. Listen for the unseen crow speaking; the large travel nest is not the trading spot.
- Leave one Rubbish inside the small nest. Quit and reload, then collect one Titanite Chunk. Each different exchange works once per journey.
- Leave only the requested single offering. Extra items do not produce extra rewards.
Material breakdown
Firelink Shrine
Requirements
- Ring both Bells of Awakening and keep Frampt available.
- Return to the ruined pool beside Firelink Shrine after ringing both bells. Speak to the large serpent emerging from the drained opening.
- Carry one Titanite Slab and choose its named Titanite feeding option to receive two Titanite Chunks. The ordinary Feed Item menu pays souls instead.
- This consumes the higher-grade material. The exchange cannot be reversed.
- Placing the Lordvessel without Frampt or siding with Kaathe can remove access to this service.
Notes
- Normal and armor upgrades: Normal weapons use seven chunks in total to go from +10 to +14: 1, 1, 2 and 3. Andre needs the Very Large Ember for the +10 to +11 modification. Ordinary armor also uses chunks for +7 through +9, with costs depending on the piece.
- Lightning and Crystal: The Giant Blacksmith converts compatible normal +10 weapons to Lightning without an ember or to Crystal after receiving the Crystal Ember. Creation costs one chunk; +1 through +4 cost another seven, for eight chunks before the final slab.
- Limited and renewable sources: Early Black Knights and some Crystal Lizards provide limited chunks. Darkwraiths and the Kiln knights respawn. The two sword knights in the Kiln guarantee ordinary chunks, while the other three knight types give particular colors.
- Breakdown: Frampt converts one chunk into three Large Titanite Shards. Breaking a slab for only two chunks is a permanent trade of a much rarer finishing material.
