Requirements

• Access the Artorias of the Abyss areas.

1. Enter Oolacile through the portal in Darkroot Basin after freeing Dusk and obtaining the Broken Pendant in the Duke's Archives. Defeat the Sanctuary Guardian and Artorias to reach Oolacile Township.
2. Find the Crest Key in the township Mimic. Return to the locked tower above the arena where you fought Artorias, open it and speak to Hawkeye Gough.
3. Explore the ravine off Royal Wood until Kalameet has flown past. Speak to Gough again and agree to his offer to deal with the dragon.
4. After Gough brings Kalameet down, return to the ravine, descend the ladder and defeat the dragon. The ring is awarded for the kill; cutting the tail is a separate weapon reward.

Requirements

• Have the Crest Key and reach Gough.
• Cut Kalameet's tail before killing him.

1. Find the Crest Key in the Township Mimic. From the lower street with several Bloatheads and two sorcerers, enter the side doorway and go upstairs. Cross the wooden planks and drop into the room with the fireplace and chest. Defeat the Mimic for the key.
2. Return to the exit of Artorias's arena facing the Township. Turn left up the stairs, then cross the short bridge to the locked tower door. Open it with the Crest Key and speak to Gough.
3. Before Artorias's arena, take the slope into the Royal Wood valley, pass the dogs and descend the long ladder to encounter Kalameet. Return to Gough and accept his offer to shoot the dragon down.
4. Return to the valley for the grounded fight. To cut the tail, work behind the dragon and strike the tail itself, especially after its downward tail slam. Attacking the body does not count as cutting the tail.
5. Keep attacks on the tail until the Obsidian Greatsword is awarded. If the dragon is close to dying, stop attacking its body and wait for another tail opening.

Note: Defeating Kalameet without the tail cut loses this sword for the journey. His death reward and Gough's bow do not replace it.
