1. Free Dusk from the golden golem behind Darkroot Basin's Hydra, then obtain the Broken Pendant from the first Crystal Golem in the Duke's Archives.
2. Return to the cave behind the Hydra and use the dark portal to enter Oolacile.
3. Follow the entry path to Sanctuary Guardian's arena and defeat the boss. The Guardian Soul is its victory reward.
4. Cutting its tail gives Guardian Tail separately. Later guardians encountered in the garden do not provide an unlimited supply of this boss soul.

Requirements

• Reach Oolacile through the Darkroot Basin portal.

1. Defeat the Hydra in Darkroot Basin, follow the shallow lake edge into the rear cave and defeat the golden crystal golem to free Dusk. Reload if the golem has not appeared.
2. After placing the Lordvessel, enter the Duke's Archives and kill the crystal golem near the beginning for the Broken Pendant. Return to Dusk's former cave and examine the portal to enter Oolacile.
3. Fight the Sanctuary Guardian in the first arena. Move around behind it during an opening and aim at the tail until it is severed. The whip is awarded separately from defeating the boss.

Guardian Tail

Requirements

• Return after the two Lesser Sanctuary Guardians have appeared.

1. Return to the original Sanctuary Guardian arena from the sanctuary bonfire. The later pair also have severable tails that award Guardian Tail.
2. Work on the tail of one guardian while watching the other. These lesser enemies can be respawned by resting, providing another route if you missed the boss tail.
