}In-game description
Key to Blighttown from the Depths of the
Undead Burg. Swallowed by the Gaping Dragon.
As its name suggests, Blighttown is a place
of great pestilence. Even the polluted
inhabitants of the Depths are aware of its
dangers, and built this mighty door in hopes
that they could remain safely separated.
Where to find
Boss reward
Depths: Gaping Dragon
- Pass through the Depths beyond the Giant Rat and the sewer passages. Find the large hall overlooking the Gaping Dragon arena.
- Open the nearby return shortcut to the bonfire route. Deal with the Channeler overlooking the arena if it is still alive, then descend to the fog gate.
- Defeat Gaping Dragon to receive the Blighttown Key.
- Return to the upper hall and find Domhnall seated beside the enormous locked gate. Use the key on that gate to enter upper Blighttown.
Notes
- Front entrance: Opens the large gate from the Depths into upper Blighttown. The route beyond descends through wooden platforms before reaching the swamp.
- Master Key limitation: Master Key does not open this gate. It can provide an alternate route through the Valley of Drakes to the other side of Blighttown.
- Optional approach: The rear entrance lets you reach Quelaag without fighting Gaping Dragon. The locked Depths gate still needs this key if you return to use it.
- Later journeys: This key is removed when a new journey begins. Collect it again if you need to reopen its lock; unlocking the door in the previous journey does not keep it open.
