In-game description

Soul of the Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight
and Cinder, who linked the First Flame.

Lord Gwyn bequeathed most of his power to the
Gods, and burned as cinder for the First
Flame, but even so, Lord Gwyn's soul
is a powerful thing indeed.

Where to find

Gift or encounter reward

Kiln of the First Flame

  1. Offer the required Lord Souls to the Lordvessel to open the Kiln. Pass the Black Knights and descend through the ruins to the final fog gate.
  2. Defeat Gwyn and receive his soul. Completing either ending begins the next journey, so retain the soul if you want its equipment or miracle reward.

Notes

  • Consume or keep: Using the item grants 20,000 souls and destroys it. This is separate from the souls credited immediately for defeating the boss.
  • Reward choices: Make Great Lord Greatsword from a compatible normal +10 blade such as Dagger. Alternatively, as a Warrior of Sunlight at rank +1 or above, offer it at the Sunlight Altar for Sunlight Spear. The covenant needs ten Sunlight Medals for rank +1.
  • Frampt value: Feeding it to Kingseeker Frampt gives 40,000 souls, which is more than consuming it. Feeding also destroys the item.
  • Forging: At Anor Londo's Giant Blacksmith, choose Modify Equipment with this soul and the required base equipment. A normal +10 base needs Andre's Large Ember modification from +5 to +6 first. Forging spends the soul, the base item and 5,000 Souls.
  • Later journey: In ordinary solo progression, the Giant Blacksmith and the Sunlight Altar exchange are reached again in NG+ after Gwyn's defeat. Keep the soul through the ending if you want either use.
  • Sunlight Spear: The miracle itself needs 50 Faith and continuing Warrior of Sunlight membership to cast. Receiving it is separate from meeting its casting requirements.
