In-game description

Manchette worn by pyromancers of the Great
Swamp. Though it appears tattered, it is
actually quite strong.

Their attire offers substantial protection
against poison, fire, and other forces of
nature out in the hinterlands where they
were driven.

Where to find

Starting equipment

Northern Undead Asylum

Requirements

  • Choose Pyromancer at character creation.
  1. This piece belongs to that class's starting outfit. An existing character cannot change class to receive another starting loadout.

Treasure pickup

Blighttown swamp

  1. Start at the bonfire in the stone tunnel at swamp level. Step outside, turn left and follow the swamp's outer wall rather than the upper wooden walkways.
  2. Continue past the mosquitoes to the soul pickup near the wall. Look back and left for the recessed corner, then collect the nearby corpse holding the Tattered Cloth outfit and Poison Mist.
  3. Return to dry ground to manage poison buildup. The poison spell is separate loot and is not learned merely by putting on the clothes.

Notes

  • Weight and poise: Equips on the hands, weighs 1.6 and provides 0 poise. This piece does not help you withstand hits without staggering.
  • Physical protection: Provides 12 normal physical defense at base reinforcement. Its strongest physical protection at this level is against strike damage. Different attack types use different physical defenses.
  • Protection: At base reinforcement, its elemental defense is 14 magic, 18 fire, 10 lightning. Fire is its strongest elemental defense at this level. Defense values are not percentages of incoming damage blocked.
  • Status resistance: Adds 14 bleed, 35 poison and 1 curse resistance at base reinforcement. These help resist buildup; they do not cure an existing status.
  • Reinforcement: Reinforce to +10 using Titanite Shards, Large Titanite Shards, Titanite Chunks and a Titanite Slab. Reinforcement improves defenses and resistances without changing weight, poise or maximum durability. Armor does not use weapon embers or elemental conversion paths.
  • Starting outfit: Pyromancers begin with these four pieces. Other classes can collect them without joining a covenant or meeting a pyromancy teacher.
  • Protection versus casting: The clothing provides fire and poison protection. It does not increase the Pyromancy Flame's Magic Adjustment or the damage of your spells.
