Mystical orb found on a Keeper's corpse.

Invade the world of the murderer of a
Fire Keeper, to defeat the perpetrator and
reclaim the soul of the Fire Keeper.

The Black Eye keeps constant watch on the
city of the Gods, Anor Londo.

Firelink Shrine: Anastacia's cell after Lautrec's murder

  1. Leave Lautrec alive while progressing through the game. Anastacia's murder can trigger after both Bells of Awakening are rung, or after collecting the Fire Keeper Souls in Undead Parish and Blighttown.
  2. When Firelink's bonfire goes out, go down the stairs beside it to Anastacia's barred cell. Search the items there for the Black Eye Orb and Dingy clothing.
  3. Carry the orb to the cathedral hall before Ornstein and Smough in Anor Londo. When the message says it is responding, use it from your inventory to invade Lautrec's world.
  4. Defeat Lautrec in that invasion to recover Anastacia's Fire Keeper Soul. Return to her cell at Firelink and choose to restore her.
  • Do not consume her recovered soul or use it to reinforce Estus if you want to revive her. Killing Lautrec before the murder prevents this revenge route.

Notes

  • NPC invasion: The orb targets Lautrec's scripted world rather than another player. It works offline and does not require you to reverse hollowing.
  • Retries: A failed attempt does not use up the orb. Return to the responding area and try again until Lautrec is defeated.
  • Quest completion: The orb is removed after the successful recovery. The Fire Keeper Soul you recover is specifically Anastacia's; another Fire Keeper's soul cannot revive her.
  • Boss timing: The invasion takes place in the hall outside the boss arena. Defeating Ornstein and Smough does not by itself prevent you from returning to use the orb.
  • Quest version: This is the obtainable Black Eye Orb connected to Lautrec. The separate unused version concerning Shiva is not another available quest.
