}In-game description
Stone imbued with the power of the dragons.
Rite of apostles of the ancient dragons.
Gain torso of dragon. Roar like a dragon.
The dragon apostles seek transcendence of
life itself, attainable by transformation
into an ancient dragon. This rite is only one
step, but it cannot be reversed until death.
Where to find
Covenant rank reward
Ash Lake: Stone Dragon
- From the Blighttown swamp bonfire, head toward the opposite end of the swamp, away from Quelaag's mound, and climb the large root leading into the hollow tree.
- Open the chest in the tree, then strike the wall behind it. Strike the second concealed wall beyond the next chest to reveal the Great Hollow.
- Descend the Great Hollow using the branches and ladders. Keep away from the Basilisks' curse clouds and continue through the mushroom-filled bottom to Ash Lake.
- Follow the narrow beach to its far end, passing the Hydra and the hollow trees. Approach the enormous Stone Dragon and pray at it to join Path of the Dragon.
- Offer thirty Dragon Scales in total to reach Path of the Dragon rank +2. Receive Dragon Torso Stone from the covenant reward dialogue.
- Without the Lordvessel, resting at the bottom means climbing back through the Great Hollow to leave. The deep water beside the beach is a fatal drop.
Notes
- Full transformation: Unequip your armor before activating the stone. The dragon form lasts until death and prevents equipping normal armor; it does not supply an invisible suit of armor with its own defense.
- Roar: Use the stone again after transforming to perform a short-range roar that can stagger nearby opponents and briefly raise attack power. The roar costs stamina.
- Five-second buff: The attack-power increase lasts five seconds. Its rank values are 20% at +0, 22% at +1, 25% at +2 and 30% at +3. Because the stone is normally earned at +2, the lower values matter if your covenant progress later falls.
- Attack power versus HP damage: The roar modifies attack power before the target's defenses are applied. A 25% attack-power bonus is not a promise of exactly 25% more HP damage against every target.
- Unarmed combat: Dragon form strengthens and changes barehanded attacks. You can still use weapons, but you give up the protection and effects of normal armor.
- Scale cost: The thirty-scale requirement is cumulative, not thirty more after the ten-scale rank. Scales spent reinforcing dragon weapons do not count toward this total.
