Requirements
- Defeat the Sanctuary Guardian and Knight Artorias.
- Keep the Soul of Artorias for the exchange.
- Defeat the Hydra in Darkroot Basin, follow the shallow lake edge into the rear cave and defeat the golden crystal golem to free Dusk. Reload if the golem has not appeared.
- After placing the Lordvessel, enter the Duke's Archives and kill the crystal golem near the beginning for the Broken Pendant. Return to Dusk's former cave and examine the portal to enter Oolacile.
- After Artorias, light the Oolacile Township bonfire beyond his arena. Reload or leave and return to find Ciaran kneeling at the grave in the arena.
- Speak to Ciaran with the Soul of Artorias and agree to give it to her. She gives both Gold Tracer and Dark Silver Tracer. Manus does not need to be defeated.
- The trade consumes Artorias's soul, which also makes Abyss Greatsword. Ciaran can leave, so decide while she is available.

Requirements
- Meet Ciaran after Artorias, before giving her his soul.
- Return from the Township bonfire to the grave in Artorias's arena. If you choose to fight Ciaran instead of trading, defeat her and collect the tracers and her armor.
- This route preserves Artorias's soul. Buy or prepare any supplies before the fight; her Lloyd's Talismans can stop Estus healing.
- Ciaran's death is permanent for the journey. The exchange and death drop are alternative ways to receive these weapons.
Notes
- Requirements and weight: Requires 9 Strength, 25 Dexterity and weighs 2.
- Scaling and bleed: Dexterity gives overwhelmingly stronger physical scaling than Strength. Hits build bleed, including its quick multi-hit strong sequences. A resistant or immune target can reduce or remove that status benefit.
- Left hand: The left-hand inputs perform multi-hit slashing sequences instead of a conventional parry. Equip it with a separate parrying tool if you need to parry; pairing it with Dark Silver Tracer does not create a special combined stance.
- Criticals: Its displayed critical rating is 100. Dark Silver Tracer's rating is 160, but actual critical damage still depends on the attack animation, attack power and target.
- Reinforcement: Reinforce to +5 with Twinkling Titanite. It cannot receive resins or weapon-enchantment spells and has no elemental conversion paths.
