Weapon behavior

Strength scaling affects shield attack damage, not its damage-blocking percentages. Extra Strength does not improve stability once the requirements are met.

Reaches 76 stability at +5 with Twinkling Titanite while remaining repairable. This gives it high normal-shield stability without accepting the low durability of a Crystal conversion.

Reinforcement and comparison

Reduces blocked physical damage by 100%, magic by 40%, fire by 75% and lightning by 65%. Starts with 64 stability. Stability controls the stamina spent on a block, separately from health damage that gets through.

Reinforce to +5 with Twinkling Titanite. On this path, stability rises from 64 to 76; the listed damage-blocking percentages stay unchanged. Has no elemental conversion paths.

In-game description

Weapon type: Shield
Attack type: Strike

Shield of the Silver Knights of Anor Londo.
A flowing canal is carved deep into its face.
The Silver Knights stayed behind in Anor
Londo to defend the illusory goddess,
and their shields are blessed with her
divine protection.

Where to find

Enemy drop

Anor Londo

  1. Start at the interior bonfire where Solaire sits. Kill the nearby sword- and spear-carrying Silver Knights in the rooms and corridors and inspect their drops.
  2. Open the ground-floor shortcut from the room containing the Silver Knight armor chests to shorten the loop. Return to the bonfire and rest to repeat.
  3. Use the shield-bearing melee knights rather than relying on the greatbow archers, whose weapon and loot behavior differ.

Notes

  • Requirements and weight: Requires 14 Strength and weighs 5.
  • Blocking at base reinforcement: Reduces blocked physical damage by 100%, magic by 40%, fire by 75% and lightning by 65%. Starts with 64 stability. Stability controls the stamina spent on a block, separately from health damage that gets through.
  • Parrying: Can parry with the left-hand strong input. A successful parry opens an eligible enemy to a riposte with your attacking weapon; it does not make every attack parryable.
  • Reinforcement: Reinforce to +5 with Twinkling Titanite. On this path, stability rises from 64 to 76; the listed damage-blocking percentages stay unchanged. Has no elemental conversion paths.
  • Attack scaling: Strength scaling affects shield attack damage, not its damage-blocking percentages. Extra Strength does not improve stability once the requirements are met.
  • Temporary shield spells: Magic Shield and Strong Magic Shield can temporarily strengthen the left-hand guard when cast with a catalyst in the right hand. They replace one another, and two-handing the other weapon removes the shield enchantment. These are different from resins and melee weapon-enchantment spells.
  • Stability without Crystal durability: Reaches 76 stability at +5 with Twinkling Titanite while remaining repairable. This gives it high normal-shield stability without accepting the low durability of a Crystal conversion.
  • Guarding comparison: Has 75% fire and 65% lightning reduction, but only 40% magic. It is not the same fire specialist as Black Knight Shield.
