}In-game description
Key to the iron bars on the east side of the
second floor of the North Undead Asylum.
The Undead Asylum is a giant Undead prison,
segmented by countless iron bars.
Even if an Undead were to escape from a
cell, passage to the outside world would
not be gained easily.
Where to find
NPC gift
Northern Undead Asylum: Oscar's room
- Escape through the small side doorway when the Asylum Demon first lands. Continue past the bonfire and archer to collect your starting equipment.
- After the next fog gate, climb the stairs. Retreat when a Hollow pushes an iron ball down toward you; the ball breaks the wall at the foot of the stairs.
- Enter the broken wall and speak to Oscar. Agree to hear him out and continue his dialogue to receive the Estus Flask and Undead Asylum F2 East Key.
- Return upstairs and unlock the iron gate leading toward the upper boss entrance.
- If Oscar dies before you receive his items, collect his dropped items instead. You do not need to attack him.
Notes
- Tutorial gate: Opens the east gate upstairs, allowing the normal route through the tutorial toward the Asylum Demon.
- Oscar's request: Accepting his request provides the key without a fight. Leaving him alone after the conversation lets the tutorial continue normally.
- Not the west key: The locked gate on the other side of the upper floor leads toward the Rusted Iron Ring. That gate needs Undead Asylum F2 West Key, found later at Firelink.
- Later journeys: This key is removed when a new journey begins. Collect it again if you need to reopen its lock; unlocking the door in the previous journey does not keep it open.
