In-game description

Helm of a lower-rank knight. Despite the
thin metal used, the grooved texture gives
it added protection.

Where to find

Starting equipment

Northern Undead Asylum

Requirements

  • Choose Knight at character creation.
  1. This piece belongs to that class's starting outfit. An existing character cannot change class to receive another starting loadout.

Treasure pickup

Darkroot Basin

  1. Descend from Darkroot Garden into the basin and approach the lake beyond the Crystal Golems.
  2. Collect the outfit from the corpse in the shallow water near the large rock in front of the Hydra. You can loot it without defeating the Hydra, but its water attacks cover the approach.
  • Do not run far into the lake. The shallow shelf ends abruptly in fatal deep water.

Notes

  • Weight and poise: Equips on the head, weighs 4.2 and provides 8 poise. Poise helps resist stagger; it does not reduce health damage.
  • Physical protection: Provides 14 normal physical defense at base reinforcement. Its strongest physical protection at this level is against slash damage. Different attack types use different physical defenses.
  • Protection: At base reinforcement, its elemental defense is 6 magic, 8 fire, 5 lightning. Fire is its strongest elemental defense at this level. Defense values are not percentages of incoming damage blocked.
  • Status resistance: Adds 9 bleed, 6 poison and 0 curse resistance at base reinforcement. These help resist buildup; they do not cure an existing status.
  • Reinforcement: Reinforce to +10 using Titanite Shards, Large Titanite Shards, Titanite Chunks and a Titanite Slab. Reinforcement improves defenses and resistances without changing weight, poise or maximum durability. Armor does not use weapon embers or elemental conversion paths.
  • Starting outfit: The Knight class starts with all four pieces. Other classes can collect the full set in the basin.
  • Early weight: The complete outfit is heavy enough to affect an early character's movement. Removing individual pieces is possible without losing access to the remaining pieces.
