the First Flame.

Lord Gwyn, bearer of the ultimate soul,
divided his power among his great clan before
linking the flame. But he did keep his crown,
perhaps to preserve a symbol of the monarch,
for its actual power had fully subsided.

Requirements

  • Keep Domhnall of Zena alive and friendly.
  • Defeat Gwyn, finish the game and begin the next journey.
  1. His first shop is in the Depths, beside the large door leading to Blighttown and near the approach to the Gaping Dragon arena.
  2. After both Bells of Awakening have been rung, return to Firelink Shrine. Walk up the aqueduct route toward Undead Burg and look beneath it for his seated figure. Carefully jump from the approach onto his ledge.
  3. Open the purchase menu and buy Crown of the Great Lord.

Notes

  • Weight and poise: Equips on the head, weighs 3 and provides 0 poise. This piece does not help you withstand hits without staggering.
  • Physical protection: Provides 16 normal physical defense at base reinforcement. Its strongest physical protection at this level is against slash damage. Different attack types use different physical defenses.
  • Protection: At base reinforcement, its elemental defense is 16 magic, 21 fire, 21 lightning. Fire and lightning is its strongest elemental defense at this level. Defense values are not percentages of incoming damage blocked.
  • Status resistance: Adds 15 bleed, 8 poison and 20 curse resistance at base reinforcement. These help resist buildup; they do not cure an existing status.
  • Reinforcement: Cannot be reinforced. Its listed protection is not a starting point for a later +5 or +10 version.
  • Next journey: Gwyn's defeat starts the ending sequence and leads into New Game Plus. The outfit becomes available from Domhnall in that later journey, not during a free-roam period after Gwyn.
  • Separate purchase: Keeping Gwyn's soul is not a purchase requirement. The armor and the boss-soul weapon are separate rewards.
