In-game description

Head carved of archtrees by Gough in his
imprisonment. Gough imparts an emotion to
each and every completed carving, which
helps him achieve personal enlightenment.
When a head is disturbed, it speaks,
reflecting the emotion conferred to it.

This head says "Help me!" Look again.
Can you hear the desperate plea?

Treasure pickup

Chasm of the Abyss: lower side ledge

  1. Free Dusk from the Golden Crystal Golem behind Darkroot Basin's Hydra after defeating the Hydra and reloading the area. Speak to her.
  2. After placing the Lordvessel, kill the blue golem near the Archives entrance lift for Broken Pendant. Return to Dusk's cave and examine the portal.
  3. Defeat Sanctuary Guardian, cross Royal Wood and defeat Artorias. The arena gazebo and Township entrance are beyond his arena.
  4. Continue through Oolacile Township, pass the Chained Prisoner and take the lift down to the Township Dungeon bonfire.
  5. Descend into the Chasm. Before the broken bridge route, look over the right-hand edge for a series of lower ledges leading toward a pocket occupied by Humanity Phantoms.
  6. Drop carefully between the ledges, clear the nearby phantoms and collect Help me! Carving from the corpse at the dead end.
  7. Use a Homeward Bone to leave safely, or inspect the path below beyond the corpse and drop back toward the lower route.
  • Humanity Phantoms deal damage on contact. Keep room to retreat before committing to a narrow ledge.

Notes

  • Spoken message: Plays the "Help me!" voice line. The carving is reusable and does not summon another player by itself.
  • Before Manus: The pickup is in the Chasm outside Manus's arena. You do not need to defeat him to collect it.
  • Different pickups: Nearby Humanity and Twin Humanities drops are consumables. The carving is a separate fixed corpse pickup, not a random reward from the phantoms.
  • DLC set: This is the carving found in the Chasm. Gough sells Hello and Thank you; the two other carvings are designated Township rewards.
